Time: 09:30 – 11:00 EST | 14:30 – 16:00 UTC

Discussions around COP26 in Glasgow highlight the long overdue commitment of the Global North to rapidly scale investment in climate action, particularly in the Global South. The multi-sector transformational changes needed to address the climate crisis will require innovative approaches to scaling climate finance that blend, braid, and leverage different types and sources of funding. This open TCLP webinar explored the unique and intertwined roles that multilateral, philanthropic, and private investment can play in working together to scale transformational climate action.

The webinar reviewed recent efforts within the Climate Investment Funds and partner multi-lateral development institutions to advance transformative climate finance. During this webinar, we considered how philanthropic investment can complement public and private investment to catalyze action and help public and private sector actors to pursue and achieve climate neutral, inclusive, resilient, sustainable development pathways. We also began to determine what scaled and blended climate finance could—and should—look like in the coming decade, which will include considering signals that would indicate that climate finance is enhancing the relevance, systemic change outcomes, speed, scale, and adaptive sustainability of climate action.

This webinar is part of a series of learning events hosted by the Transformational Change Learning Partnership (TCLP). For more information, please see the TCLP webpage or email ciftclp@worldbank.org.
