Liberia, situated at the center of the Upper Guinea Rainforest Region, is bordered by Sierra Leone, Guinea, Ivory Coast, and the Atlantic Ocean. With climate change likely to produce extreme weather in West Africa, Liberia is expected to experience heavy rains, storm surges, sea-level rises, and increased erosion in the heavily populated parts of the coast. The country’s vulnerability is exacerbated by its high level of poverty, high dependence on climate change-sensitive sectors, and engagement in unsustainable economic activities.
