Mr. Martin currently leads multiyear research projects on housing strategies for climate adaptation, as well as the global evaluation of the Rockefeller Foundation–pioneered 100 Resilient Cities. Mr. Martin will discuss the current challenges for building urban resilience programming and the potential for both resilience implementation and transformation in cities.
Ms. Sarfatti serves as Head of C40 Cities’ Inclusive Climate Action program, which provides cities with a clear roadmap and support to plan, build consensus, and deliver bold climate action that is equitable and beneficial for all. Ms. Sarfatti also works on C40’s mayoral task force on recovery after COVID-19, which is providing cities with resources to better understand and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and working with mayors to build a better, more sustainable, and fairer society out of the recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.
Ms. Macedo is an expert in sustainability policies and management, having worked as an independent consultant and team member in projects for several institutions such as the World Resources Institute (WRI), the Brazilian chapter of the World Business Council on Sustainable Development (CEBDS) and the World Bank since 2012. She has previously held positions with the State of Sao Paulo, Greenpeace, and Ministry of Environment in Brazil, and is the former Regional Director for Latin America of ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability based in Brazil.
Mr. Muggah is a specialist in cities, security, migration and new technologies. In 2011 Mr. Muggah co-founded the Igarapé Institute – a think and do tank working on data-driven safety and justice across Latin America and Africa, where he is currently the director of research.
