Jamaica is a Small Island Developing State in the English-speaking Caribbean. It is vulnerable to increased temperatures, frequent droughts, heavier rainfalls, and rising sea levels. The country is also affected by hurricanes that can cause severe flooding, when they coincide with its rainy season. Dry spells are expected to increase and affect the central and western parts of the island. Its vulnerability is exacerbated by its high dependence on natural resources and livelihoods related to coastal activities.
