Vietnam, located in Southeast Asia, is bordered by Cambodia, China, Laos, and the South China Sea. Vietnam’s long coastline, geographic location, and diverse topography and climates contribute to its vulnerability to riverine, flash, and coastal flooding, as well as tropical cyclones along its northern coast. The country’s vulnerability is also exacerbated by the high proportion of its population and economic assets being located in coastal lowlands, deltas, and rural areas.
