Daniel joined the Climate investment Funds in 2018.
As the Senior Climate Change Specialist and Clean Energy Lead, he works with the Climate Investment Funds’ partners to help deliver transformational change in the energy systems of developing countries.
Daniel’s 12 years of experience in working to build economic and policy solutions to the climate crisis are also derived from his previous roles as an Advisor to the US Executive Director of the World Bank and as a Policy Analyst in the US Treasury. In the latter position, he helped to execute the agency’s responsibilities related to the United States’ climate and energy agenda.
Daniel has a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Management, Political Economy of the Environment from the Bren School of Environmental Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Northern Arizona University.
BASE
BASE Managing Director and senior specialist in sustainable energy, climate change and financial structuring. Daniel has over 25 years of experience in identifying business opportunities for financial institutions and developing green programmes (including renewable energy and energy efficiency). Daniel has a strong project track record working with financial institutions in Latin America, Africa and Asia structuring green finance facilities and strategies that seek to mobilise demand for finance and create new lines of business for financial institutions. Daniel has collaborated in the development of SARAS, environmental and social portfolio assessments, development of systems, processes, products and services related to climate mitigation and adaptation, green business strategies, capacity building programmes, development of climate business models and instruments, development of MRV processes and tools, climate and sustainable taxonomies, among others.
Daniel is a civil engineer with a master's degree in renewable energy and an MBA with a specialization in finance.
Bacon Cooperativo Sicredi
Manager of Structured Operations and Sustainable Finance at Banco Cooperativo Sicredi, a leading financial cooperative in Brazil. He has been instrumental in integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into the organization's operations, including financing projects in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and diversity-focused initiatives. Under his leadership, Sicredi has gained recognition for its sustainability efforts, such as winning the "Lender of the Year" award from Environmental Finance in 2023. His work emphasizes aligning the cooperative's financial activities with community development and environmental stewardship, reflecting Sicredi's commitment to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals
Banco Produbanco
Marcelo is Produbanco’s Environmental and Social Risk Coordinator. His role involves the implementation of strategies that align with sustainable banking principles, particularly in reducing environmental impacts. Under his guidance, Produbanco has adopted the Net-Zero Banking Alliance framework, showcasing its commitment to environmental sustainability and its alignment with international standards like the IFC Performance Standards.
He is a Commercial Engineer with master’s degrees in Business Administration, Leadership and Business, and E-commerce and Marketing.
Climate Investment Funds
Ziza is a dedicated climate finance expert working with the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), where she focuses on fostering sustainable development through innovative financial mechanisms. She plays a significant role in mobilizing resources for transformational projects across low- and middle-income countries, enabling them to address climate change challenges effectively. Prior to this role, she worked with the Inter-American Development Bank and USAID projects, bringing expertise in energy policy and renewable energy, including co-founding a renewable energy company in Honduras. Ziza holds a Master’s in International Politics from the University of Edinburgh and a degree in Engineering from James Madison University, and she is fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
