Bridging Mitigation and Adaptation
Almost a quarter of man-made greenhouse gas emissions are caused by agriculture, forestry, and other land use changes. These human actions have degraded land and water ecosystems and now gravely threaten our rivers, farmlands, forests, coastal systems, and marine environments.
Born out of CIF’s experience in innovative forestry and climate resilience projects, NPC supports effective climate action and resilience through sustainable land practices in low- and middle-income countries, from small island states to sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America.
The program focuses on nature-based solutions that recognize the complex and conjoined relationships between land use, climate-change mitigation and adaptation, and improved livelihoods for rural communities and Indigenous peoples – achieving a triple win for development, climate, and nature. By working across a diversity of land uses, we help support a just transition that will reduce poverty and distribute prosperity more equitably.
